- There were 13,200 serious injury crashes in Texas in 2023, with 16,400 people sustaining serious injuries.
- There were 3,750 deaths as a result of Texas car crashes in 2023.
- Single-vehicle, run-off-the-road crashes resulted in 1,200 deaths in 2023, making up 32% of all motor vehicle traffic deaths.
- 745 people were killed in crashes occurring at or related to intersections.
- 610 people were killed in head-on crashes.
- There were no deathless days on Texas roadways in 2023.
- December was the deadliest month, with 340 people killed in traffic accidents.
- Of all persons killed in vehicles where restraint usage was applicable, 45% were not restrained when the fatal crash occurred.
- 430 motorcyclists (operators and passengers) were killed.
- Pedestrian fatalities totaled 680 in 2023, marking an increase of 3% from 2022.
- 70 bicyclists were killed in 2023.
- 950 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes where the driver was under the influence of alcohol, representing 25% of the total traffic fatalities.
- 400 people were killed in crashes involving distracted driving.
